Created my background with Gesso and Distress Stains
added texture paste through my new stencils
Did some background stamping and added some paper pieces

Added the clock and cogs which I had heat embossed

Added some more bits and pieces and some more colour

This is my entry for the Mixed Media Mojo Challenge where the theme is "New and add 15"

Frayed Fabric

 Week 19 of Compendium of Curiosities leads us to page 66 and the chance to use some of Tim's amazing fabric

As always the wonderful Linda Ledbetter hosts this challenge with prizes from Tim and Mario for the lucky winner voted for by the Crew

Hand painted bookmark

One of my favourite  things that I love to do as much as my artwork and machine work is to read - I have been an avid reader since I was young and used to use a torch when my mum put my bedroom light off

 

I used some things left over from my Christmas crafting to produce this bookmark - a small piece of watercolour paper and some beads

 

I started by lightly sketching the tree I then used Winsor and Newton water colours to add the colour and when dry  I  laminated it

 

I punched a hole in the top and added an eyelet and then put the ribbon that I had attached the beads to through it

 

I'm sure I'll use it a lot !!!

Use a Portrait

I started with a piece pf hardboard - covered it with paper from Tim's "Traveller" paper stack

I added a little colour too it - not a lot because I liked the colour. I used Texture Fade and Distress ink to add the dots - I then cut and tore pieces of old paper some doyley and some burlap and added the to the centre - I inked with vintage photo to have them all the same shade - I then added the photos again from one of Tim's paper stacks which I had mounted on burlap

I followed Brenda's brilliant tutorial on my leaves and key - it wasn't as successful as Brenda's but I love the techniques and will try again.

I added a flower made of fabric and string and put the leaves underneath. I then added the key

I finished off by putting holes in the top and threading hemp through

Just Be Journal Page

 

 

Started by adding Distress Sprays to my background and dried

 

Added texture paste through a stencil to the top left and bottom right corners

 

Added some torn papers and tissue tape

 

Added some white gesso with my finger

 

Did lots of Background stamping and added circles through a stencil - added colour to the texture

 

Added main wording using Adirondack and Tims foam stamps - highlighted them with Sharpie Pen

Journal 52 Cover

I have started a new challenge this year called Journal 52 - its been going for quite some time now but I've only just found it . Here's the link if you'd like to go take a look Journal 52


Today I have been covering a journal to use for this challenge

I started by covering my journal with Tim Holtz Tissue wrap I deliberately crumpled it a bit to get some creases into it.

 

I also added some tissue tape to straighten up the edges

 

 

I added colour with Distress Inks - Walnut Stain and Vintage photo

 

 

I then added some paper circles that I cut out with a punch I also added some bits of ephemera.

 

 

My central piece was created on some cardboard I created a worn paint texture and then added the lettering and Number 52 - the butterflies were die cut and finished off with beads. I adhered the ensembles to my Journal with Glossy Accents

 

I added some metal letters to the circles and some Rub Ons to finish it off

My Craft Room

Its a while since I showed my craft room and some changes have been made !!!Its very photo heavy this post so grab a coffee and away we go

My craft room measures 8 foot by 10 foot and is fitted out with kitchen base units that we bought in a sale at the local DIY store. This gives me 20 foot of working space

 This little shelf has altered tins on to store palette knives - bone folders - sharps -  posca pens - chisels and mini misters

 I altered this writing slope to hold - Distress Stains, Paints and Sprays

 This stand for my inks is a recent purchase and needs painting yet

 

I love this carousel it holds pens, staplers etcetc

New

 

I used lots of my new stash to complete this page. I started by spraying my blank journal page with my new Distress Sprays Peacock feathers and Mustard Seed

 

I put some Ranger Texture Paste through my New Tim Holtz layering stencil - Harlequin and let it dry

 

I added some torn pages and tissue with Mod Podge I let that dry then added some background stamping with Adirondack Pitch Black

 

I put my assemblage together using an old photo that I had distresses, some burlap and bits of torn paper topped with a distressed flower.

 

I added some Remnant Rubs from the Botanical set and a little more texture paste through Tims Stencil

 

I finished with some inked Chit Chat words that I outlined with charcoal

Journal 52 - Pathways

 

Well a belated Happy and Healthy New Year to my followers old and new and anyone else who comes visiting my blog.

 

I am starting the New Year with a new to me Challenge - Journal 52 - a site which provides Prompts,inspirational Words, Phrases or techniques to get you going

 

I am looking forward to where it takes me with great anticipation

 

The first week has the prompt "Pathways"

 

This is how my page finished

 

 

I wasn't sure where my page was going when I started with some colour wash. I then added torn strips of old book pages and music sheets making a pathway with them. I also added some paper hearts and circles.  I added some more colour and some background stamping. I used stencils and Distress Paint to create texture, Tissue tape was added to even things out. The girl was added with Posca pen I added the large lettered Love and then did some outlining with charcoal

 

I have added some close up pieces for you to take a look at
