Water Colour

Ages ago I bought the bits and pieces needed to do some water colour painting - they've been stashed away until today when I decided to get them out. I've been looking at some lessons on the net and decided that the easiest way was to give it a go. I'm quite pleased with the results - found it very relaxing and will definately be doing more

I'm entering this painting in the Rainbow Lady challenge which this week is TREES

I bought this cute little chest of drawers from The Artistic Stamper £7.99 I covered them with Burnt Sienna acrylic paint and before they were dry sprayed crackle paint on them - not sure what else I'm putting on them yet

Altered Book

I've spent about 2 weeks off and on to get this piece done. I firstly glued all the pages together in 2 halves (Bought the book for 10 pence at library sale not spoiling a good book)I then put 2 coats of gesso on and put some hinges in so that it would remain upright. I did a lot of inking and masking to create the sky and the landsacpe. My tree (Thank you Dan) took ages to cut out and ink - I was frightened of the branches falling off !!!!!. I stamped my owl and birds with stazon and my flowers with momento inks.

I'm really pleased with the finished result

Self made embossing boards

I made my own embossimg boards !!! I put modpodge on to mountboard then added bits of grungeboard on 2 of them and bits of metal stuff on the other one. I used my bigshot for embossing. If you give this a go you may need to play around a bit with your plates to see which work best

To make my hanger I run my board through the bigshot - painted the corrugated cardboard with dabbers added a bit of burlap and a bit more color and then added my main piece. I finished off by using a ringpull as a hanger and pushing some rusty screws down the ridges of the cardboard

Beeswax

I just love the smell and the texture of beeswax. For this hanger I inked my background with distress inks added some beeswax and then my doily. I added more ink I then stamped my image (my new stamp isn't she gorgeous) with stazon cut it out with my circle punch and inked it. I added a little more beswax scraping it away from her face, My quote is a velum one that I inked and added with brads. The corners were added by heating the beeswax a little then pressing them in. I finished off by adding some wire as a hanger

Night Sky

I covered my canvas with 2 coats of gesso then sprayed with colour wash - before it was properly dry I added some crackle paint - I then blew everyhting around with my heat gun to create the clouds. Made a lot of mess but had a lot of fun !!!!

Love the look and the texture

Wabi Sabi

After reading an article in Cloth,Paper Scissors I was eager to give this concept a go. Wabi Sabi is all about the things around you, in your dreams, in your house, what you see when you go for a walk.

This canvas takes me back to my childhood - I grew up at the seaside - loved it and still misss it a lot and love to go back there as often as I can.

I covered my canvas with texture paste then coloured it with colour wash. I made markings and the word with my palette knife and the end of my paintbrush. I added dried emptied tea bags to creat more texture and finished off with the little bird stamp.

Its the first time I've tried it and am pleased with the result - I can see me doing more of these

Alcohol Ink Painting

last night I saw this technique on someones blog - really sorry but I can't credit it have lost the link sorry.

I dropped various colours of alcohol ink on to a tile. Filled my water brush with blending fluid. Stamped my images on to acetate with stazon and heat set. Then picking the colours up with my brush painted the pictures on the reverse side - love the effect. And, apparently, you can just go back to the tile at any time to do some more painting - no need to freshen it up until you've used it all !!!
