For Art Sake

Hi girls hope you are having a brilliant weekend. I've been getting messy with my Journal.

I started with paper piecing using papers out of my scrap box and from old books. I outlined with Posca Pen and the dry brushed Gesso over it all to bring it together

I added some texture paste through a stencil on the bottom right and top left corners when dry this was covered with Distress Ink.

I did some more inking through sequin waste and then added some white dots to some of them.

I did some background stamping using Adirondack and then added my lettering. I finished off with more stamping and added some flicks

I am entering this page in the following challenges

A Vintage Journey -  Going Round In Circles
Artistic Stamper - Anything Goes
Country View Crafts - Anything Goes
More Mixed media - Anything Goes - optional blue

A Vintage Journey

I' m pleased with how this page finished up.

I started by covering my page with Gesso applied with an old credit card- whilst wet I made marks with pieces of old toys

I then added Distress Stain Spiced Marmalade and some Liquitex Ink which I encouraged to run down the page. The marks are now showing lots better

I inked through bubble stencil with Brushed Corduroy - did some background stamping using Adirondack Black

I decide which pieces of Ephemera I was adding - distressed them before gluing

Finished off with some Big Chit Chat words

This is my entry for the Vintage Journey Challenge which this month had the theme CIRCLES

A new Start

For this page I created the background with Distress Sprays. I added Sea Salt and left it to dry overnight but it doesn't seem to have worked the way I wanted it too. Maybe the page wasn't wet enough hey ho I'll try again another day. Suggestions would be welcome

I used Tim Holtz clock mask and Distress Ink to add to the background along with some patterns created with Distress pen

Using Archival Ink I stamped some of the letters and added letter tiles for the word "New"

I stamped some quotes to add interest before adding some circles and some flicks

A little boop with the date - lol - upside down!!

I am entering this page in the Mixed media Mojo Challenge

Altered Journal

I am getting myself back to Art Journaling so decided to alter the boring black cover on my Journal

I covered it with crumpled tissue paper and added it with Mod Podge - when it was dry I used Distress Inks to add colour.

Did some background stamping and then added ephemera out of my box

The numbers are grungeboard inked with Distress Inks

I finished it by flicking white acrylic

I am entering this into the following challenges who all have a "Anything Goes" theme this month

Winter Wonderland For Mixed Media World

Mixed Media World - Winter Wonderland

Such a long time since I blogged but if you have time please read the previous post and you'll understand why

My "Winter Wonderland" was created with Unison Pastels on Canson Mi Tiente Touch paper after doing an underpainting with Calligraphy and Tim Holtz Distress Inks

I have also linked this piece to A vintage Journey where the theme this month is "Winter Magic"

Here's wishing you all a Very Happy and Healthy New Year

2017-Art Journal Journey

Hello fellow artists and a very Happy and Healthy New Year to you all

I haven't blogged for a year now - its been a terrible year for me my hubby best friend and soul mate of 45 years passed away in April having been ill for some time.

I have struggled really hard missing him every minute of every day - but I am hoping that through my art I can now start to look forwards a little. I know deep down that that's what he would have wanted.

I have started the year with a page for the Art Journal Journey challenge where the theme is "Every picture tells a story"

I used inks and a sponge to create the background and then added lettering through a stencil,

The picture was from an old book. I used more stencils and inks to add the dots and the a container top and black ink for the circles.

The faux stitching was done with a roller stamp and I finished off by flicking ink from a Graphik pen

I hope you like what you see and leave my a little comment and I'll come visit your blog

Again a Very Happy and Healthy New Year to you all

Christmas Hanging

I did a lot of collecting in the park for the things to make these hangings - they were all cleaned, drilled and then sponged with watered down gesso

The only things I bought were the ribbons, beads and twine

The hangings have loops on each end so could be used to drape mirrors or mantles

I am entering in the following brilliant challenges

That Craft Place - Anything goes

Our Creative Corner - Topsy Turvy - The hanging will go either way up

Floral Arrangement

Hi _ I've been so busy preparing and making things for our local Church Christmas Fayre

This is one of the many floral arrangements I've done

Journal 52 Comfort Zone

I covered the page with white Gesso and then Gelatos in three shades of blue and blended with baby wipe.

I then placed a floral stencil over the top and took the blue out with a baby wipe leaving the Gesso showing

I used heat gun to dry and then did lots of stamping that depicts my comfort zone using Black Archival

Things with wings

At Vintage Journey this month Anne challenged us to use "Things with Wings" on our project and, of course, using Tim Holtz products or techniques

I used lots of Tim's products creating my hanging

I started by making a crackle background

I then put texture paste through a Tim Holt stencil and when dry I  coloured with Distress Pens

I cut  and embossed the large butterfly using some card stock that I had previously created with the shaving foam technique using re inkers. I also cut a black butterfly to place at the back of it

The small butterflies were cut and inked with Distress Pens

I finished the piece by adding remnant rubs and Small Talk words
