Mixed Media Tag

I created my background by inking my tag with Wild Honey Distress Ink

I then put it through my Vagabond in an embossing folder before adding more ink

I stamped the image and quote on to glossy card stock after I had created a striped pattern on it with alcohol inks - I cut the image out and attached to the card with foam tape. I then made a shadow with charcoal

I cut out the quote backed it with some burlap and attached with my tiny attacher

I put some UTEE in my melt pot and melted it before dipping in the little flowers and the leaf - the flowers really do look as if they are porcelain

I finished by adding some inked crinkle ribbon to the top with staples

I just love the Tim Holtz "style" and have all his books - referring to them quite often to remind myself of his amazing techniques - I so enjoyed the on line courses 101 and 102 and learned so much from them. I am an avid collector of his products and am working on a set of Spay Inks now - I have 8 so a ways to go yet but I'll get there

 

Anyway enough of the chatter this is how I used Tims influence to complete my hanging

 

 

I started with a piece of torn cardboard and added colour with Distress Paints

 

I did some background stamping using Archival ink

 

I stamped the Raven with Archival too

 

I stamped, labelled and cut out the bottles and added them with foam tape

 

I added the branch which I had die cut, heat embossed with bronze EP and then rubbed Black Soot Distress Stain on to it

 

I added lots of Rub Ons from Tim's set

 

I added the spider web and spider

 

I used Tim's Die to cut a lattice and then stamped it and  shaped it by adding it to the card with mini staples

I added frayed Burlap to the bottom and used Jute string for the hanger

I started with a very old book that was really no longer readable it had many pages missing - I used part of it - about 150 pages and folded them to create my tree

 

I then used Tim Holtz Distress Spray to add the green colour

 

I then added some spray glue and green glitter

 

I finished by adding the beads with tiny drops of adhesive

 

I am not sure yet how I am going to decorate the top - maybe a bow, maybe a star, maybe and angel what do you think

D and Red

I was delighted to be asked to do a guest spot on the Wednesday Tag Challenge where the theme chosen by May this time - she chose the letter D and colour Red

I started by cutting out some letters in Grunge Board and adding them to my tag

 

I then covered the word with sticky back tin foil which you can buy on a roll in the tool section of Poundland

 

 

I then coloured the foil with Alcohol ink - Botanical, I covered the other side with tissue script  and then added Barn Door Distress Ink - I didn't quite like the red so added some gesso with my finger to tone it down a bit

 

 

 

I stamped my image with Archival Ink and coloured it cut it out and attached it with foam tape after I had added some background stamping to the red side.

 

I finished off by adding buttons and rikrak and adding some shading to my image

Worn Cover

This week on the Compendium of Curiosities Challenge we were asked by Linda Ledbetter to turn to page 35 of Volume 111 Worn Cover if you haven't already got the book you may be able to get it at your local craft supplier or you could get a signed copy from the man himself  HERE

 

 

The Challenge is sponsored by the Inspiration Emporium and a huge prize is given to one lucky winner chosen by the design team and donated by Tim and Mario

 

I loved the tactile feel of the cover when it arrived so wanted to try and preserve some of that - in keeping with the rules of the challenge I won't explain my process just tell you that I used the following supplies

I love the way it turned out the colours go so well together I am going to use it for storing quotes and bits and pieces I come across

Umbrella

The background for this tag is taken from my stash of underpaper - love how it has all the colours that I use most days on along with a bit of paste

I used one of my Favourite Tim Holtz stamps and Archival ink

I added a camera stamped again with Archival

The black markings are stamped with pieces of foam

The Printed word

I enjoyed doing this collages tag for the 3 muses challenge where this week you are challenged to use the printed word in your work - I coloured my tag with Peacock Feathers distress Ink and then tore some paper from a printed paper bag and added that to the right side and left corner

I cut the couple out from photos in my stash and added a piece to the bottom to give them something to stand on.

I added them to the tag and outlined in charcoal

I printed the words out inked and cut them and then added them

I finished by dribbling some melted beeswax down the tag

This is my entry for the Artful Times challenge where the theme this week is GREEN

 

I used Spray Inks, Torn Card, Torn book page, flower and quote stamp to create my piece finished off with an inked bow

This is my entry for the Mix It Monthly Challenge where the theme this month is still life incorporating the colours from the inspiration board

 

I've used the colours but as you can see I'm no good at drawing but I have tried :):)



October Tag

I don't have all the supplies that Tim has but I used what I do have to create my tag if you'd like to take a look at Tim's you can find it HERE

I used texture paste through an alpha stencil and when dry used Distress sprays to add colour - I love these sprays - I only have 7 but watch this space :):)

I added the pumpkin to card stock cut out, inked and added with foam pads - I did the same with the spider and dangled it from the fibres I had threaded through the top.

I added the word BOO which I had created with stencil and rub ons and of course distress inks

I added a rubon to the fragment piece and painted the other side with Picket Fence then added it to the fibres via an ideology piece

I quite like how it turned out and find that's its great having the challenge of using what you have

The background was created with Rusty Hinge Distress spray - I used baby wipe to spread it about and added some water droplets

 

I put texture paste through a star stencil and when dry inked it with Victorian Velvet Distress Ink

 

 

I used the same Victorian Velvet Distress Ink through a circle template did  some stamping using foam stamps and added some silver leaf by putting glue through another stencil and then the leaf

 

I stamped swirls with Cherry Red Stazon

 

Lots more stamping was done using foam stamps and Adirondack Inks - I continued the stamping using word stamps and Black Archival

 

The girl was pieced using bits from magazines and my stash

 

I finished off with the grungy circles done with a bottle top and gesso

 I used Distress Sprays Peacock Feathers and Mowed Lawn for the background

 

I used a stencil and model paste for the hands and when dry inked them

 

All the stamping, was done using Tim Holtz Stamps and Adirondack back ink

Vintage Card

 

 

I really like how this card turned out - I started by stamping the main image and the quote on cardstock with Archival Ink - I dried them then inked with Distress Inks

 

I tore the background paper and inked that along with the circular doyley

 

I cut out the leaves with my Tattered Leaves die - embossed and inked them

 

I made the flower by die cutting some very fine silky material to do this I used a bonding paper to the back and then when they were cut took it off - I also added some ink to these with a Distress Spray Ink

 

The Grunge Board Key was inked and heat embossed

 

It was then just a case of putting everything together - I added 3 little beads to just finish it

Clean and Simple

I put a very light coating of silver acrylic with a dry brush on to my card - I then crumpled up some wax paper, straightened it out  and then lay that on the card I barely touched it with a flat iron which brought some of the ink off and created a gorgeous web type pattern

 

I then used distress inks on my stamps to create the multi colour stamping

I started by inking my tag with distress ink and splashing with water

I then added the residue ink from a stencil I had been using

I stamped my main image (Tim Holtz stamp) with Archival

Added the rub on letter V and the chitchat word Voyage

I finished off by adding the feathers to the top

Distress Photoprinting

I followed the technique from Tim Holtz book 3 page 41 to work on the photo of my dear grandfather.

I started with a canvas board and added some Distress Stains  and then some Texture paste through one of Tims Stencils and a piece of die cut I then set about adding things that reminded me of my grandad

Almost everything on this canvas has something to do with my Grandad  the Sun Rays because he used to sing Sunshine on my Shoulder = the flowers because he loved his garden - when his budgie Joey died he buried it under a rose called Peace. The wings because he was in the Air Force during world war 2 - the TOT because his friends called him tot, he loved a tot of whisky- the number plaque - his door number and the bulb because he used to greet me with "Hello light of my life" The clock face because he always had a pocket watch

I finished off with an ideology word piece, some rub ons , a swirl and an arrow and some chitchat words

Slate collage

 

 

I started with a plain slate, My hubby drilled 2 holes in the top I  added lots of texture paste around a square that I had blocked off - I used my palette knife to create patterns in the paste before leaving it to dry over night

 

I then added colour with distress paints, distress embossing powder and rub n buff

 

I added my found relatives that I had mounted on to torn card stock and covered with film reel

 

The circle near the bottom with stars dangling was an earing that I found in a charity shop

 

I added the heart which was in my stash and rusted the key with white vinegar and bleach

 

I added the 3 little flowers again out of my stash after I had inked them

 

I added some chitchat words and made a hanger by twisting wire

Fabric Autumnal Wreath

This wreath was made by tearing up a no longer needed curtain cutting the strips into pieces and then knotting them around a florist wire

 

It could be used as a hanging but I am going to use it as a table decoration at the holidays I think it looks well around my favourite Yankee Candle oil burner

This is my second piece for the Art Journey Challenge where the theme this month is Deep in the Woods - I have collaged this one in fabric - I hope it counts

I have used Gesso, Acrylics, Stencils, Distress Inks, Die cuts, Fabric and all sorts of bits and pieces

I started with the box and covered it with Gesso

 

I added Tissue Tape to the side of the inside and then added inked Kraft Resist paper from Tim Holtz Ideology range to the inside top and bottom

 

I added some lace and all the bits and bobs to the inside

 

I painted the  sides with Antiqued Bronze Distress Paint, sanded it a bit and then added Rik Rak

 

I padded the lid with some batting and then added a piece of fabric from Tim's Eclectic Elements

 

I stitched the photo to backing fabric, added a bow , and did the same with the buttons and then added them to the box

 

I finished off by adding wording to the top side panels

Autumnal Canvas

I began by adding distress stains to my canvas I added extra layers as it dried

 

I added texture with fabric, tissue and modelling paste through a stencil

 

 

I then did some random stamping with a text stamp and a foam stamp that I had made

 

I added the Found Relative and covered with some film strip

 

I added some small flowers to the bottom of the photo

 

The leaves were cut and embossed on my Vagabond using the Textured Leaf die I inked the leaves then added some Versamark and Heat embossed with Distress EP

 

The large flower is made out of Burlap and linen fabric - the centre is string and a pearl

 

 

The wording "Good Times is a rub on that I added on top of a torn piece of dictionary page

 

I added the Ideology metal piece with screws

Sunday Postcard Hats

Had fun with this one

 

Messed around with inks and paints for the background

 

Did some stamping with Archival using the corner of an old credit card

 

Added the image and gave it some colour

 

Printed out the words added and shaded them

 

Added the finished piece to a piece of card that I had covered with text paper and inked

 

Sunday Postcard has the theme HATS this week

Autumn Wreath

 I started off with a circular florist wreath
I die cut lots of leaves using the Tim Holtz Tattered Leaves and Layered Leaf dies and my Vagabond
I then inked them all and embossed them before inking again - I used Distress Inks Rusty Hinge, Spiced Marmalade, Tea Dye and Crushed Olive

I bunched them together in 4/5's and tied with florist tape.

I then set about adding them to my prepared ring - I added drops of glue here and there and curled my leaves as I added them

When they were all on I added some bits and bobs that I had picked up in the park

I sprayed the whole wreath with a mixture of re-inker and perfect pearls I let it dry and sprayed again

To finish it I sprayed with Spray and Shine
