Rust and O

Wednesday Taggers had the theme this week to use Rust and the letter O on your work

I created a rust background with Distress Inks

Stamped my Oak tree on to card stock - cut out and inked

Printed a quote I found on Google and cut it up and inked it before adding to the tag

I finished off with some Rik Rak that I had inked

Country View Crafts where I buy some of my supplies from have the theme "WordPlay" this month so I am entering my tag there too

August Tag - Tim Holtz Style

I followed Tim's tutorial which you can find HERE to create my tag I didn't have all the products Tim used so improvised here and there

Time Flies

 

I have had fun doing this boxed canvas for the Vintage Journey Challenge where the theme is "Time Flies

 

I started by covering my canvas with Gesso I then added layers with Distress Stains/Distress Inks and Tim Holtz Masks following Tim's technique in the Compendium of Curiosities 111  

 

The clock face is from the Ephemera pack the pointers and Sprocket gear were heat embossed with Distress EP

 

The "Time" definition on the top was cut from Tissue wrap and the butterflies are Tissue tape

 

I did some random stamping using the Curious Possibilities and Life's Possibilities stamp sets and Archival Ink

 

I added the lettering after inking with Distress Markers

 

The other bits I added were from my stash

 

The feet are the small bobbins painted with Distress Stain

 

I finished off by using some Black Gesso and water and flicking it with my brush another of Tim's Fab techniques

Friends

Background - alcohol inks - stream, denim and bottle along with a drop of silver fixative and blending solution - over stamping with archival ink and text stamp

Image (Andy Skinner mask) on to spare piece of card that had been inked with distress inks and water flicked on to it before inking and stamping through the mask it was the matted and layered on to black card stock

Quote stamped on to inked card and added - finished off with the bow

Butterflies

Tagalong Thursday has the theme Butterflies this week

I used distress ink and water for my background on to watercolour cardstock. I then inked my stamps up and spritzed very lightly on them before stamping. I outlined the butterflies with charcoal after drying them.

I inked my tag and did some faux stitching with a roller stamp. I then added my main piece to the tag stamped and inked my quote then cut it up and added it.

I finished off by adding my bow

Summertime Card

 

I made this card for my sister who's birthday is not until September but I wanted to get it done and it fitted in well to the Creative Corner challenge where the theme is summertime. This scene really shows the countryside in all its summer glory

 

The scene was stamped with Archival on to water colour cardstock and water coloured with distress inks.

 

The quote was stamped again on to card stock

 

They were then both matted and layered and attached to the card before the flower was added

 

 

 

Sunday Stamper Neutrals

Sunday Stamper challenged you to use Neutrals and Naturals

I used distress inks on my craft sheet to create the background - spritzed with water and run kitchen roll over it.

Stamped my quote with distress ink and coloured a grunge board arrow with the same ink.

The flower was in my stash so I added ink to it and attached it to the tag with a muse token and a brad

Eclectic Elements Case

Since my Eclectic Elements fabric arrived - I've just stroked it and then put it away as too good to use-that is until I saw Tammy Tutterows tutorial on Tim's blog for making a case for her tablet I knew straight away that I wanted to do similar. I love the way I have been able to use the trim as my binding in fact I'm really pleased with the whole project and now want to make a tote.

I used

 Eclectic Elements fabric, wool felt; cotton batting; fusible interfacing,threads
Dies: Butterfly, Tattered Floral
Trim that was wrapped around the fabric when it arrived

The theme at Artistic stamper challenge this month is "Anything Goes"

Scratched up and Grungy

Simon Says has challenged us to get grungy this week and that's exactly what I did with this tag. The background was created with distress inks and distress stickles. The sides were distress with scissors and then inked

The bottle top was flattened , an image added and then glossy accents  whilst that was drying I inked the wings(grunge board), inked the ticket and the chitchat wording. Next came the butterfly finished off with a pen nib. Everything was added to the tag including the game piece .I finished off with a piece of string that I shredded and inked on a couple of circles by using a bottle top and distress stain

Take a word Beauty

The Take a Word Challenge this week has the theme BEAUTY

I love this stamp and don't get to use it often but I thought it fitted in well with this theme

My Background was created with blended distress inks - I inked the stamp for the flowers and then spritzed it with a little water to give a water colour effect

The lady was stamped on to cardstock, cut out and water coloured

I added the tag, word and button and then to finish it off threaded some fibres through the top

Altered Book

I enjoyed making the covers for this book which I plan to use for organising challenges, work in progress, swaps  and such in.

I created the background with alcohol inks on to the plastic cover. I backed it with script paper which shows through in places

The stamping on to the plastic was done with Archival ink(Quote, Ticket, Arrow and Eye).

My other quote was stamped on to spare cardstock and heat embossed using black EP

The key is grunge board and was inked with Distress Stain

I put Rik Rak down the spine and added charms with jump rings

Tagalong challenged you this week to incorporate Marie Antoinette into your artwork

 

My image was downloaded via google I added a hat cut from my stash of pictures.

 

The background was created with distress inks, sequin waste and a scribble stamp.

 

The heart was cut in grunge board through my Vagabond with one of Tim's dies

 

I stamped the quote on to separate card and inked and added it

 

The bow was tied with ribbon and then heated to crinkle it

Kinetic

 

 

Artful Times challenges you this week to produce something "Kinetic"

 

I hope that this tag within a case counts

 

I used script paper for the case and added the figures using an Andy Skinner mask. The quote and the arrow are rub ons as are the buttons. Inking is done with distress inks

 

The tag was blended distress ink and flicked I then used my roller stamps to add texture - the holding hands was cut from something in my stash the words Cherish and Friend were stamped with distress inks

Three Muses - Zetti

 

 

 

This is my entry for the Three Muses Challenge where this week the theme is "Zetti"

 

My background was created Weathered wood Distress ink, Clear EP and Vintage photo distress ink

 

Stamping was done with Stazon

 

The bits and pieces to make my doll were fussy cut from things in my stash and outlined with charcoal

 

 

Vintage Journey Stain It

 

 

I put Distress Stain over Kraft Resist and dried with heat tool. I then added Distress Ink with an Ink Blending Tool. I flicked water on and dried it and then stamped my image with Black Archival Ink,

 

I coloured the cog, swirl and button with Distress Stain

 

I finished by adding all the pieces to an inked tag and threaded inked string through the eyelet

 

This is my piece for the Vintage Journey   where this fortnight the theme is "Stain It"

Stamped image on to old book page and tore the edges

Added ribbons - I didn't have any black so coloured some white with distress stains

Craft room challenge - Green Inspiration

I  made a custom ink pad By stamping on to cutndry using Archival ink. I then cut around the image and applied reinkers over the black areas of the image . I then inked the stamp using this pad (the technique was one I learned doing Tim Holtz Creative Chemistry lessons) and stamped it on to cardstock.

The tag and edges of the cardstock were inked with distress inks. I added some linen which again I had inked and then added my stamped word.

I finished off with some shredded inked linen, a metal tag and the board piece

Tagalong - Faces

My main background was created with Alcohol Inks and Glossy Cardstock. Stamping was done using Archival Ink which needed heat drying to set it. The tag was inked, the main piece added and then some grungeboard pieces inked and added with mini staples. The little leaves are rubons I finished off with a piece of inked linen through the eyelet

Bits and Pieces & Things with Wings

I had fun with this one - a blended background, stamping and adding bits and pieces

Tag it On Wednesday - Cogs/P//Alphabet Challenge M

My background was created by putting my tag through my Vagabond in an embossing folder before inking it with Distress Inks

Cogs (TH Die) were cut from grungeboard, inked and added

I Used Tim Holtz stamps on to cardstock- fussy cut and inked

Finished off by adding the word ideology piece "Play" and adding a bow

Sunday Stamper /Thats Crafty- Christmas

I created my background by blending distress inks and the flicking with water

The stamp (Hero Arts) was inked with Versamark and the heat embossed with Black Detail EP

I finished the tag off by adding a flower and leaves

Craft Challenge - Wish you were here

For this tag I created the background with a mixture of Distress re inker and Perfect pearls which I mixed in a mini mister.

I did my stamping with Memento Black

Wording is chit chat pieces and the arrow grungeboard

Unfortunately the perfect pearls were difficult to take a pic but I'm sure you get the idea

Take a Word - Poppies

 

Poppies are one of my favourite flowers so I particularly enjoyed adding them to my art piece.

 

For this tag I did a transfer using emulsion paint-I love the look it gives. I distressed and inked the sides of the tag - added ribbon which I inked and then crinkled with my heat gun.

 

I finished off with the inked chitchat words

Artful Times - Tag

I love this background created by putting some Picket Fence Distress stain on to my craft sheet, adding distress inks around it and then swiping tag through the inks until it was covered - dried it and then added some water droplets

The images and scrolls were stamped with Black Archival and the script with walnut stain distress ink

I distress the edges and splattered some distress stain with the end of my brush

Finished off with the string and ideology piece

Vintage Journey - Dies and Distress

I love playing with all things Tim and this tag gave me the opportunity to do just that

For the background I used Fired Brick, Mustard Seed and Broken China Distress inks. I added some water stamping - love that technique- and then some script stamping using Walnut Stain distress ink - I added some circles using the top of a bottle and some Black distress stains. I distress the sides of the tag and then added some more distress stains

I cut my pieces out of grunge board using Tim's Dies and my Vagabond - they were then inked with distress inks and heat embossed using clear EP - I put some distress crackle paint on them with my finger and then attached them to my tag

I finished off by using a tassel that was in my stash

Things with Wings

The theme over at Try it on Tuesday is Things with wings

For this challenge I have again created a tag.

I inked my background with distress inks, distressed the sides, added more ink and blended. I added some stamping and a little quote. The butterflies were cut out of grungeboard with a Tim Holtz die and my Vagabond.. I applied Rock Candy to them and then added distress stains before dryng with my heat gun

Embossed Tag

What wonderful weather we are having right now. Its 30 degrees in my craft room so I am popping in and out of it and enjoying looking through my many art books I the shade

The Wow embossing challenge has a theme of TIME this month - one of my favourite themes

I created my tag Blended Batik background by inking with Fired Brick Distress Ink, stamping with Versamark and heating with clear embossing powder before adding Mustard Seed Distress Ink

I then stamped my swirl stamp again with Versamark and heat embossed it with Turquoise embossing powder

I stamped my quote, inked it and added it

Added my tiles and charm and then put a bow through the top which I heated to crinkle it

Altered Clock

 

 

I altered my craft room clock !!! And it still works !!!

 

I started by taking it to pieces and covering it with gesso. I then added acrylics in Cobalt Teal before smearing with Vaseline here and there Lemon Yellow came next. By wiping away the Vaseline a resist had been created a bit messy to do but well worth it. I added some tissue script paper and then did some stamping using Archival Inks

 

I quite like how it looks

Sunday Stamper - Dream

I love doing tags and this one was no exception - I inked the base with distress inks and splattered little drops of water on it before drying it - I then used a background stamp  and again distress ink. I applied perfect pearls with a dry brush over the stamped image. I put a little more water on with a mister  to activate the pearls before I dried it with my heat gun

I added some tissue to the side of the tag and then stamped my main image on to card stock and distressed and added it. I then stamped my quote inked that and added it. I used a heart shaped brad  in the top right corner

I finished off by  making a ribbon bow and then heating it with my bun to make it crimple

Country View Crafts - Stencils

This piece was created for the Country View Crafts challenge where this month the theme is "Use Stencils"

I enjoyed creating this piece with inks and paints and stencils

I used my gelli plate to create the background - I used acrylics and stencils.

 I then splattered distress stain Barn Door

I did some stamping with Pine Needles Distress Ink to create some texture

I used stencil and distress marker to add the girl to my piece

I then distressed the edges and inked

The key was covered with distress ink and distress crackle paint before adding it

The butterfly was attached and then covered in crackle before adding the nib

I finished off by adding the chitchat wording and creating a hanger

Alphabet Challenge - Lace

I made this card for the Alphabet Challenge where the theme this week is "Lace" - I put some card through my Vagabond in an embossing folder then inked it. - I stamped the image on to old book paper  and inked the edges.  I stamped and inked my quote. I then put it all together and inked and added the lace

12 tags of 2014 - July

I again needed to improvise - although I have lots of Tim Holtz stash I didn't have everything to complete this tag the way Tim did. I think it worked out ok though

3 Muses Challenge - Time

I just love the "Time" challenges and this was no exception ----- It is the theme this week for the Three Muses Challenge

I added some Tim Holtz script resist paper to cardstock - I then inked it with Scattered Straw and Rusty Hinge Distress Inks

I added some Tim Holtz masks and added Rusty Hinge Distress Inks which brought out the resist brilliantly

I used some Grungeboard wings and blended them  again with Distress Inks - I attached them to the card and then added a clock face and some Ideology pieces

I inked some letter tiles and added them and then finished off by adding some string through eyelets I'd made

Tag It On H and Brown

 

This is my piece for the Tag It on Challenge which runs alternate Wednesdays

 

I blended Distress Inks on to tag - Rusty Hinge and Walnut Stain

 

I then cut a Heart out of cardstock inked it and added crackle accents then left it to dry

 

Stamped tag with Stitchells Hearts using Memento Black

 

 stamped the Tim Holtz quote on to a piece of card and inked and layered

 

I distressed the tag using We are memory keepers distresser and added more ink

 

I then put my tag together and finished off with a heart charm and ribbon added via a jump ring

 

 

Take It Make It Challenge

To create this tag I started by Stamping my images with distress ink. I the applied clear embossing powder and heat embossed it. I then inked over the tag with distress inks using a blending tool. I wiped off excess ink from the images.  I then added a smaller tag with a brad after I had inked it and added some wording. I added the lovely little picture with a brad and cover. I finished off by adding a ribbon bow attached with a piece of TH floral ideology

Thats Crafty Challenge - Masks/Stencils and or templates

I had such fun creating this hanging. I covered some torn cardboard with Gesso before adding Golden Acrylics in Magenta and Lemon Yellow with an old credit card. I followed this by pouncing with a brush through stencils Adirondack Dabber in Juniper. I dried it all and then added some Distress Stain here and there in Barn Door. I embellished with vinyl butterflies and some words from TH chitchat book which  I inked with distress ink. I added eyelets and ribbon hanger to which I had attached a "Believe" disc

Gelli plate art - Take a word challenge

Oh what fun I have had with my Gelli Plate I produced this piece having been inspired by a piece Andy Skinner did on U Tube. I used Acrylic paints in various colours, masks and bits and pieces to create texture. The outlining is done with charcoal and the stamp a Tim Holtz one was inked with Adirondack. Not sure whether I will make it into a card or use it as a page in one of my journals

Encaustic Art Painting

 

Its ages since I had my waxes out so had a lovely afternoon producing these pieces - incidentally- its ages since I blogged too- I have been playing most of the time but just haven't got round to blogging my work - I must try harder lol.

 

The top piece was done using a stylus after I had base coated the card with waxes.

 

The bottom one was done with an iron using all sides of it

It is such a long time since I blogged for which I'm sorry - I have been really busy in my craft shed - spent a couple of months making Christmas gifts then had Christmas off crafting.

I'm back now and hope to be back blogging weekly

I created this tag following Tims instructions in his tag a month challenge - I didn't have all the products he used so improvised here and there

Farmers Wife Quilt

I am embarking on a Farmers Wife Quilt !!!! There are 111 blocks in the quilt - 145 if you want it king size.















I have started off with quite a bit of preperation - I have made some design boards following the fantastic tutorial on this site and using foam board, backing and fabric

I have then prepared some of my fabric by cutting pieces 8 x 10 from my stash

The main background fabric I have cut into varying widths for using with the templates - 2.5 inch 3 inch etc etc

I haven't gor the sashing/binding fabric yet so will cut that later

These are my design boards all ready for action - I made 10 and plan to cut 9 blocks at a time and keep one empty for a "lid" so that I can carry them back and forth without any pieces blowing off
