Kraft Tag

Simon Says Monday has this week challenged us to use Kraft card - I love this stuff it reacts brilliantly with different mediums

 

 

 

I used glycerine and water to soften the tag and take on the leather look - I alternated between wetting it and scrunching it until I achieved a look I liked.

 

I then inked it with Walnut Stain Distress  Ink and put it through my Vagabond in an embossing folder.

 

I then added some Peacock Feathers Distress Ink

 

I put some Rangers texture paste on to the bottom through sequin waste and set it aside to dry

 

I stamped my images from the Tim Holtz Lost and Found set on to cardstock with Archival ink and then heat set them and inked with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

 

I stamped the birds directly on to the tag with Archival and again Heat set

 

I added the stamped pieces and then some film strip which I attached with my Tiny Attacher

 

I added a strip of lace that I had coloured with Distress Stains to the side and then embellished it with buttons

 

I attached a crinkle ribbon bow and then finished off by adding gilding wax to the texture paste

Y and Transport

I enjoyed making this tag - my process involved creating the background with Pine Needles and Aged Mahogany Distress inks

 

Stamping was done with Teal Archival and Mustard Stazon

 

The edges were distressed and inked with Walnut Stain Distress Ink

 

I stamped the car and the ticket on to cardstock with Versamark and then heat embossed with Black Detail Embossing powder then inked with Walnut Stain Distress Ink

 

I added the car with double sided foam tape and shaped it.

 

I added the ticket with a foam pad

 

I inked the chit chat words and Y and then double embossed the Y and added them to the tag

 

I finished off with some inked twine and a little metal tag

Disguise

  Three Muses challenged us this week to use "Disguise" as our theme

 

I used a background that I'd made on a "play day"

 

I stamped the "Gibson Girl" with Archival onto card stock, cut out, inked and added "shades"

I put a piece of acetate through my Vagabond in an embossing folder inked from the back with Indigo Alcohol ink and blending solution and attached to my piece with brads

I added inked chit chat words - I don't know if you can see them my camera focus is not good they say Just Be Yourself

I mounted this piece on to another piece of made background and distressed and inked the edges.

I then mounted it all on to black card stock and added a little flower from my stash

Hello again today I have been messing about with my sprays.

 

I have created this hanging for the Take a Word Challenge where the theme is "Moon"

 

 

I created my background with Acrylics and Gesso using a couple of stencils too if you click on the picture you will get a closer look at the background. I mounted this on to some corrugated cardboard that I had sprayed with Mica - I left it to dry and then stamped randomly with a mesh background stamp and Archival ink

 

 

I cut some flowers with a Sissix Die and my Vagabond I wrinkled them up a bit and layered them securing with a brad. I then used Mica sprays in Lilac, Blue and Green - I put them in the sun to dry

 

 

I stamped my main image with Archival Ink, coloured and attached to the card

 

 

When dry I added the flower and 2 little fern leaves with glue

 

 

I finished off by adding a little quote that I had stamped and inked and a few gems from my stash

Mans World

 

Hiya girls - today I am sharing a plaque I've been doing

 

My son cut me some pieces of MDF to use in my art and this is one of those pieces.

 

I started off by covering with Gesso - I always seem to do that it gives it some tooth

 

I then added Golden Acrylic Paint Lemon Yellow, Burnt Orange and a tiny bit of Burnt Ochre - I spread the paint about with an old credit card and left to dry

 

I then added some tissue wrap with Matt Mod Podge - love the way the paint shows through

 

I put some Rusty Hinge Distress Ink here and there - in particular - around the edges

 

I put some modelling paste through a stencil and let that dry then coloured it and added circles around it with charcoal

 

I did all my stamping (Tim Holtz set) with black Adirondack on to card stock, cut and inked

 double embossed a Grunge Board hinge after I had inked it and then used a threaded button and brads through the holes before attaching to my piece with Glossy Accents

 

The "World" was cut out of script cardstock on my Vagabond and inked

 

I added all my pieces with 3D foam or Glossy accents before adding some speckles using Tim Holtz Speckles mask and a Black Soot Distress Pen

 

I plan to do a few of these boards for around my craft room

Tim style atc's

Hiya girls - Its ages since I made atc's I have 100's of little pieces of art that I have received in swaps over the years and often get them out and have a look through

Vintage Journey has challenged us to make ATC in the style of the master himself Tim Holtz

Mine were created with Inks, Tissue, Ephemera, Grunge board, stamps, found relatives and lots of bits and pieces out of my stash.

Its been a lovely day here in my part of the UK plenty of sunshine it was great to play in my craft room with the doors open

For this tag I started with an embossing folder and my Vagabond

 

I then inked the tag with Wild Honey Distress Ink and edged it with Peacock Feathers Distress Ink

 

My main image a Gibson Girl from The Artistic Stamper was stamped on to card stock cut out and inked. I then double embossed it with clear EP

 

I added the rub on quote to card stock cut out and inked this was added to the tag with dimensional glue

 

I added a wooden button to the corner with string and then made a "bow" with inked craft cotton

 

I am entering this in the challenge Friday Alphabet - N for Natural

 

Artistic Stamper Challenge - Anything Goes

Artful Times Sewing

Another tag for you to see today girls this one is for the Artful Times Challenge where the theme is sewing. I was delighted to find out that I won  the last challenge !!

I started by inking my tag with Distress Inks. I then stamped my main image on to an old dress pattern with Black Archival ink

I added the pattern to the tag with PVA

I then stamped the main image again on to card stock and fussy cut it smaller than the first image to create a shadow I stamped it with a roller stitch stamp and put some twine around the middle

The bobbin was cut inked and then I added some Distress Crackle and wrapped some string around it

I attached the inked tape measure by machine and then added the typewriter key and Ideology piece with a safety pin

I distressed and inked the edges of the tag and added jute to the eyelet

I added a tiny pair of scissors to the bottom corner bedded on a rolled piece of linen

Compendium of Curiosities Page 63

 

This is my entry for the 9th Compendium of Curiosities challenge where this time we are working on page 63 The Crew have provided us with lots of inspiration and all are worth a visit - you won't be disappointed

Doing the background for this canvas was lots of crafty inky  fun. I started by coating with gesso and then adding some torn text paper. I followed that with crumpled tissue. Colour was added with distress stains. I also used stencils, painted with an old credit card and put some more gesso on with my finger

I then followed Tim Holtz's  technique for using stamps and framelits which can be found in Tim's book Compendium of Curiosities 111

Altered Box

 

Craft Stamper this month have challenged you to make something inspired by a technique in the magazine. I was really spoilt for choice but bought this little box on a car boot for 20 pence !!!! and it just cried out to follow Helen Chilton's technique on page 26 of September's magazine

I started off like Helen giving the box a coat of Gesso

 

When dry I painted it with Liquitex Cadium Orange and Golden Cobalt Teal

 

I stamped various stamps on to Tissue Wrap with Stazon and then highlighted some areas from the back with Sakura Pen

 

I used Mod Podge to attach the stamped tissue to the box following Helens advice to use a wide flat brush

 

I used Ranger Texture Paste through sequin waste to create some texture and when dried covered the paste with Stewart Gill Meta Mica which I also rubbed on the edges of the box with my finger

 

I used Tim Holtz splatter mask and black Gesso to create some blots

 

I finished off by adding a little handle that I had in my stash with tiny nails

 

I really enjoyed the process - Thanks Helen for the inspiration

Embossed Frame

 

 

 

I altered this frame using embossing folders and metal. I then added black gesso and rubbed most of it off - I also sanded some of the raised areas and used some rub n buff gently  here and there. My image - Crafty Individuals - was stamped with Stazon and water coloured.

Rust and O

Wednesday Taggers had the theme this week to use Rust and the letter O on your work

I created a rust background with Distress Inks

Stamped my Oak tree on to card stock - cut out and inked

Printed a quote I found on Google and cut it up and inked it before adding to the tag

I finished off with some Rik Rak that I had inked

Country View Crafts where I buy some of my supplies from have the theme "WordPlay" this month so I am entering my tag there too

I followed Tim's tutorial which you can find HERE to create my tag I didn't have all the products Tim used so improvised here and there

Time Flies

 

I have had fun doing this boxed canvas for the Vintage Journey Challenge where the theme is "Time Flies

 

I started by covering my canvas with Gesso I then added layers with Distress Stains/Distress Inks and Tim Holtz Masks following Tim's technique in the Compendium of Curiosities 111  

 

The clock face is from the Ephemera pack the pointers and Sprocket gear were heat embossed with Distress EP

 

The "Time" definition on the top was cut from Tissue wrap and the butterflies are Tissue tape

 

I did some random stamping using the Curious Possibilities and Life's Possibilities stamp sets and Archival Ink

 

I added the lettering after inking with Distress Markers

 

The other bits I added were from my stash

 

The feet are the small bobbins painted with Distress Stain

 

I finished off by using some Black Gesso and water and flicking it with my brush another of Tim's Fab techniques

Background - alcohol inks - stream, denim and bottle along with a drop of silver fixative and blending solution - over stamping with archival ink and text stamp

Image (Andy Skinner mask) on to spare piece of card that had been inked with distress inks and water flicked on to it before inking and stamping through the mask it was the matted and layered on to black card stock

Quote stamped on to inked card and added - finished off with the bow

Butterflies

Tagalong Thursday has the theme Butterflies this week

I used distress ink and water for my background on to watercolour cardstock. I then inked my stamps up and spritzed very lightly on them before stamping. I outlined the butterflies with charcoal after drying them.

I inked my tag and did some faux stitching with a roller stamp. I then added my main piece to the tag stamped and inked my quote then cut it up and added it.

I finished off by adding my bow

Summertime Card

 

I made this card for my sister who's birthday is not until September but I wanted to get it done and it fitted in well to the Creative Corner challenge where the theme is summertime. This scene really shows the countryside in all its summer glory

 

The scene was stamped with Archival on to water colour cardstock and water coloured with distress inks.

 

The quote was stamped again on to card stock

 

They were then both matted and layered and attached to the card before the flower was added

 

 

 

Sunday Stamper Neutrals

Sunday Stamper challenged you to use Neutrals and Naturals

I used distress inks on my craft sheet to create the background - spritzed with water and run kitchen roll over it.

Stamped my quote with distress ink and coloured a grunge board arrow with the same ink.

The flower was in my stash so I added ink to it and attached it to the tag with a muse token and a brad

Eclectic Elements Case

Since my Eclectic Elements fabric arrived - I've just stroked it and then put it away as too good to use-that is until I saw Tammy Tutterows tutorial on Tim's blog for making a case for her tablet I knew straight away that I wanted to do similar. I love the way I have been able to use the trim as my binding in fact I'm really pleased with the whole project and now want to make a tote.

Scratched up and Grungy

Simon Says has challenged us to get grungy this week and that's exactly what I did with this tag. The background was created with distress inks and distress stickles. The sides were distress with scissors and then inked

The bottle top was flattened , an image added and then glossy accents  whilst that was drying I inked the wings(grunge board), inked the ticket and the chitchat wording. Next came the butterfly finished off with a pen nib. Everything was added to the tag including the game piece .I finished off with a piece of string that I shredded and inked on a couple of circles by using a bottle top and distress stain
